My ideas: z/TPF Product Family

Increase the number of Pool Directories that be skipped during an unplanned outage to prevent lost pool addresses caused by CYA90004I ZEROED DURING SKIPPING.

Likely, the implementation will use system heap rather than expanding the number of #SONSKP ordinal numbers. We need to support more than 3 directories being zeroed. In your case, it is possible that all 10 directories in a directory set can be ze...

Add z/TPF to the supported systems for the MQ Agentic AI

IBM has an MQ Agentic AI and z/TPF will soon support the Agentic AI framework. Having the MQ Agentic AI supported on z/TPF will strengthen the case for customers to try AI and the Watsonx Assistant for Z.

To include the full ASSOCIATED LINK MAP DATA block in every zTPF dump capture

there’s a strong case for including the full ASSOCIATED LINK MAP DATA block in every dump capture, with the OBJECT FILE section, the function list, and a COMMENT containing the Change/WE (work effort) build metadata. Our agentic dump analyzer tool...

More quickly identify scope and cause of TCP/IP networking issues

Through discussions with customers, the cost and effort to debug networking problems is high. The z/TPF system and coverage programmers at customer sites spend hours/days proving that the problem is outside of the TPF environment. Many times, cust...

Support Inbound HTTP Request Body decompression in z/TPF HTTP Server for REST API or application logic

Enhancement to the z/TPF HTTP server to natively support decompression of inbound HTTP request bodies when the Content-Encoding header is set to gzip or deflate. The implementation should leverage existing z/TPF hardware‑accelerated compression ca...

ZUDFM INIT database initialization functionality to run concurrently with application workload

Problem: Visa recently initialized a new 4 billion database allocation, this was done during a 4-hour outage window because the existing ZUDFM INIT throttling doesn't give enough control to run it in Norm state with application traffic. Even in 10...

Replace RIP2 with OSPF for Network Propagation

It could be that z/TPF at Citi is the last system at Citi still using RIP2 protocol. The Citi Network Support Group would strongly prefer that z/TPF support the modern protocol before support for RIP2 is dropped as a global standard.

TPFUG Requirement One of our customers is complaining about the inefficiency of IBM Business Events Unordered Dispatch Queue using a default 32,000 byte buffer for their larger Event Message Feeds which exceed the default buffer length and results in MQGET/decompressing the message twice. The customer is planning on turning on Compression for IBEV.UNORDERED.DISPATCH.QUEUE; however, they are requesting we increase BEVQ_DEFAULT_BUFFER_LENGTH in bevq.cpp:

Inefficient behavior: BEVQ allocates a 32000 byte buffer to read the messages, if the buffer is not large enough the MQGET has decompressed the message it then returns MQRC_TRUNCATED_MSG_FAILED, and leaves the message on the queue. It then realloc...
