Transformation Rule for TCP/IP Port Numbers

We're using CICS Configuration Manager, Rel 2.1. This product has been useful for us to when building a CICSplex using an established CICSplex as input. We have developed a variety of Transformation Rules to alter certain CICS Resources as they are copied from one environment to the other. Some of these include Remote System IDs, Dataset Names, LOGR Names, etc.

However, one rule that we developed did not perform the way we expected. That was to transform the TCP/IP Port Numbers. The naming standard we use for our Port Numbers utilize the 2nd digit to designate which of our CICSplexes the port will be defined to.

For example:

Source CSD: Port Numbers are 74nn
Target CSD: Port Number are 76nn

Here are two examples of the Transformation Rule I developed, both of which were rejected by the product:

Transform Field and Values
Change Field . . PORTNUMBER
Change From . . . 074*
Change To . . . . . 076*

Invalid data mix

Transform Field and Values
Change Field . . PORTNUMBER
Change From . . . 074++
Change To . . . . . 076++

Invalid use of mask

I then opened PMR 86693,499,000 to report this issue. After review of that PMR, the Change Team reported that the product is not capable of this type of Transformation Rule, because is not capable of accepting either the '*' or the '+' character in a numerica field, in this case, the TCP/IP Port Number Field.

    This RFE has been addressed by APAR PI75192 for CICS CM V5.3 and the function has been rolled into CICS CM V5.4 which became GA on 15th Dec 2017.

    Due to processing by IBM, this request was reassigned to have the following updated attributes:
    Brand - Servers and Systems Software
    Product family - Enterprise Tooling
    Product - CICS Configuration Manager

    For recording keeping, the previous attributes were:
    Brand - WebSphere
    Product family - Enterprise Tooling
    Product - CICS Configuration Manager

    The plan for the next release is full, but this will be marked as a candidate for future release beyond that.
