Config Manager should support sharing and grouping transformation rules across multiple migration paths

Configuration Manager should support a grouping mechanism for transformation rules, the ability to assign these groups to various migration paths, and furthermore the ability to assign an individual transformation rule and/or rule group to multiple migration paths without having to duplicate the rule definition.

Further comments from CICS CM development to help clarify the requirement:

CICS CM should introduce Transform Rule Groups, with contains a list of one or more Transform Rule Sets.
The path on a Migration Scheme could then name either a Transform Rule Set (which gets one set of rules) or a Transform Rule Group (which gets a succession of Transform Rule Sets each in turn).

As discussed during the conference call on 27th August:

We now understand this requirement clearly. It needs to be addressed using the concept of transformation groups which can then be shared across migration schemes.

Robert, thanks for submitting this RFE. We have discussed this with CICS CM development and they explained that the way transformation rule sets are associated with migration scheme paths is as currently architected in the product. To change this would require major re-architecture of this function. In CICS CM 5.2 we have provided REXX samples which show how the CICS CM API can be invoked in batch. These samples can be used to write details of the transformation rules to a file, customised for a different migration scheme path and then re-created using the REXX batch process. The samples provided in CICS CM 5.2 are the same ones that we provided to you previously in CICS CM 5.1. Depending on how often these rule sets are likely to change, this batch process can be used to customize these for particular migration paths.
