I would like to be able to copy from one group en masse to another

I would like to copy the whole group to another group at the GROUP level. Preferably, if possible, creating the group at the time of the copy itself. Or with a new or used package that is already there. In other words -- COPY PACKAGE FROM(pkg1234) TO(existing_pkg) DESC('copied from pkg1234 for new changes') REPLACE(NO/YES)  -- OR COPY PACKAGE (pkg1234). Then a prompt would come back affirming the outcome of the COPY.  If the latter were specified, a Group copy with no Group specified as the receiver, then a prompt would come back with the new group package created.

Hi David, thank you for raising this idea. After reading your idea, we believe your requirement describes two (but related) copy operations:

    1. Copying CSD resources from one CSD Group to another

    2. Copying change package resources from one package to another

CICS CM provides services for both of these, and so we would like more input from you to understand whether there is more required than the steps that are outlined below to solve this? Perhaps batch or something more specific you're looking to achieve?

The CICS CM ISPF dialog provides online commands to achieve this requirement.
The CICS CM batch utility does not provide this.
Note: If the resources are copied via a change package, the target Group is auto-created if required.

Within the CICS CM ISPF dialog:

      1. Choose ISPF option 2, select a Configuration for processing

      2. Choose Action G (List Groups) or Action S (Select resources) and set filters.
For whole Group processing, set filter Name(*) Type(*) Group(Group-name).

      3. Enter primary Command ==> C * or COPY * to prefil all entries for the copy action.
Note: You can also use individual C line actions or block CC-CC line actions

      4. A pop-up confirmation panel appears for:
        - Target Group which may pre-exist, or if not it will be newly created
        - Target Config which must pre-exist and maybe a CSD, CPSM context, or export file
        - Replace options as YES or NO, to replace resources already present in the target Group/Config.

The above will achieve the Group-to-Group en masse COPY to new or pre-existing Groups, albeit ISPF online only.

    Many thanks, Louisa
