Due to processing by IBM, this request was reassigned to have the following updated attributes:
Brand - Servers and Systems Software
    Product family - Enterprise Tooling
    Product - CICS Performance Analyzer

For recording keeping, the previous attributes were:
    Brand - WebSphere
    Product family - Enterprise Tooling
    Product - CICS Performance Analyzer

That's one reason. To have them printed we need to use forms to convert to ASA.

And I suppose you prefer them because they do not show up when viewing the report. Whereas the machine print characters show up. Is that correct?

yes, of course, but ASA print characters are much more better than machine print characters (hex 09, hex 01, hex 11)

    Hello Andrea,

We discussed this again at our CICS PA status call and the developer asked that even if CICS PA was able to change the sysout dataset format to FBA, you would still get ASA printer carriage control characters. So these would be visible on the report when you send it via e-mail.

Hello Andrea, Yes that was my next suggestion. Post-process the report to remove the first column if sysout2pdf was not an option for you. I will continue my discussions with CICS PA development to see what can be done in this area in future.

    regards,
    Satish

    I know the feature sysout2pdf.
I do not need any files to attach in about 70 notes documents, but only the report which is automatically transferred to lotus notes. We will include a step which deletes the first column out of the CICSPA reports. Not elegant, but the quickest way to get the report in a for us usable format.

    Regards
    Andrea

    Hello Andrea,

As this would be a significant change to CICS PA, have you considered outputting the report in PDF format. You can use the sysout2pdf option in CICS PA to create a PDF format report which would be much better formatted and easier to read. Please see details in Chapter 16 of the CICS PA User's Guide and also at the following link:

    Hello Andrea,

You have attached the JCL but you have not attached the printed report which contains the FBM hex characters.

    Hello Andrea,

Thank you for the report. CICS PA development have asked what the problem is with physically printing this report as other CICS PA users have printed reports in the past
when the report has been created using RECFM FBM. Assuming you are actually printing this report, can you please scan the printed report and attach it to the RFE.

    Thanks,

    Satish

report is not for print (for that we have forms which convert to the recommended format).

To extract to csv format is no solution. We need the report view which is created by job (see sample attached). It is sent to lotus notes by automated filetransfer. Here the FBM hex characters in the first column are very desturbing.

the problem are the hex 8B, hex 09, hex 01, hex 11 characters in the first column. We need ASA control characters and not machine control characters.

    Hello Andrea,

Can you please send us the complete job output for this report. CICS PA development would like to see it to work out why you are not able to print this report.

    As they pointed out:
A or M can be coded with any record format, such as: RECFM=FBA
A indicates that the record contains ISO/ANSI device control characters.
M indicates that the records contain machine code control characters.

    Thanks,

    Satish
