This portal is to open public enhancement requests against IBM Z Software products. To view all of your ideas submitted to IBM, create and manage groups of Ideas, or create an idea explicitly set to be either visible by all (public) or visible only to you and IBM (private), use the IBM Unified Ideas Portal (https://ideas.ibm.com).
We invite you to shape the future of IBM, including product roadmaps, by submitting ideas that matter to you the most. Here's how it works:
Start by searching and reviewing ideas and requests to enhance a product or service. Take a look at ideas others have posted, and add a comment, vote, or subscribe to updates on them if they matter to you. If you can't find what you are looking for,
Post an idea.
Get feedback from the IBM team and other customers to refine your idea.
Follow the idea through the IBM Ideas process.

In order to cut SMF 110s triggered by use of the MNFREQ function for long running tasks it must be possible for that processes to switch onto all the TCBs in order to accurately collect the monitoring data for that task on that TCB. This is not architecturally possible since there is no way of interrupting that task to ensure that we can get on each TCB in a timely fashion, if ever. This limitation with using the MNFREQ option is documented in the infocenter.
A suggested alternative approach would be for the long running application task to use a CICS Monitoring facility (CMF) Event Monitoring Point in the Monitoring Control Table (MCT) with the DELIVER option specified and to invoke that user monitoring point with an EXEC CICS MONITOR command on an application controlled periodic basis, this would effectively achieve the same thing as MNFREQ but this command can be issued on whatever type of TCB the application is currently running on, whether that be the QR TCB or an open TCB.
