Additions to DFHJUP and Return Codes

We recently had an incident here when we ended up having "hanging" VSAM linear datasets left over from our online log precessing. We have to save every inbound and outbound message in the NCIC system (for log searching, court cases etc).

We currently use IEBGENER to copy the logfiles out of the coupling facility every night (the job has 4 steps...the last of which deletes the CF log datasets). These jobs do not have any RC checking in the steps. In the recent incident, the RCs were all zero anyway (even though we got a number of DFHLG0195 and DFHLG0196 messages reporting "gaps" in the log). When we had the issue, we had to write specific code to recover the linear VSAM datasets. We asked IBM (via the SR) whether DFHJUP would report the 0195 and 0196 messages if we used it versus IEBGENER. The answer was NO.

This RFE is to request an option on the DFHJUP program invocation that would report "warnings/errors" such as the 0195 and 0196 messages, so that we can add RC checking on the processing job steps.

This requirement has been re-evaluated. Looking at current plans, it is not likely that this would be implemented in the next two CICS TS releases, so correspondingly this requirement is being rejected. You have an opportunity to resubmit in twelve months time if you wish it to be considered then.

    Product - CICS Transaction Server

For recording keeping, the previous attributes were:
