There are a couple of issues here. First of all if we change the default definition for the autoinstall exits to specify concurrency(threadsafe), then any code users have added to these samples would have to be threadsafe, else it is likely to fail. Of secondary consideration is that if code added by users included non-threadsafe CICS commands, that would cause a TCB switch.
The other thing to say is an alternative to adding code to autoinstall exits to cause user programs to be installed as threadsafe, this can be avoided by using the CICSVAR environment variable. This can be included in the source of PLI or C programs, or specified in a CEEUOPT CSECT that is linkedited with a cobol program. The autoinstall exit can be left alone, the user's program defn would be autointsalled as quiasirent, but when the program is loaded, CICS notices that a CICSVAR has been specified an overrides the program definition. So for example if CICSVAR=THREADSAFE is specified, then the program would be be treated as a threadsafe program.
