CICS and Email, SMS, TELEFAX (GSE requirement DBCICD02001)

DESCRIPT : To hold the CICS attractively and/or to make attractively again for timely applications it's imperative necessary to guarantee services like Email, SMS and TELEFAX via installation default. The offer of such services as optional SupportPacs (e.g. CA1H)is meant well but not sufficient.

Due to processing by IBM, this request was reassigned to have the following updated attributes:
Brand - Servers and Systems Software
    Product family - Transaction Processing
    Product - CICS Transaction Server

For recording keeping, the previous attributes were:
    Brand - WebSphere
    Product family - Transaction Processing
    Product - CICS Transaction Server

CICS provides Supportpac CA1Y which provides a simple mail transfer protocol (SMTP) client to send emails and attachments from CICS Transaction Server for z/OS (CICS TS). It is a Cat2 - unsupported SupportPac. Looking at current plans, it is not likely that any further enhancements would be implemented over and above the SupportPac, so correspondingly this requirement is being rejected. You have an opportunity to resubmit in eighteen months time if you wish it to be considered then.

CICS Supportpac CA1Y has just been released.

Depending on its acceptability, it remains an option to be rolled into a future CICS TS release
