Whilst this requirement is valid, based on our current plans and priorities, it is not likely that this could be implemented in the next 12 months, or in the next CICS TS release. Correspondingly this requirement is being declined at this point. The requirement will be kept in the RFE system and might be reassessed in the future. You also have an opportunity to resubmit in twelve months time if you wish it to be reconsidered then.

Banks that do credit card processing would be beneficiaries of this type of tranclass timeout. If Visa or Mastercard have forwarded a credit card transaction to the card-owning shop, but that shop does not send a reply back to VISA or Mastercard within 10 seconds, then Visa or Mastercard will 'stand-in' for the card-owning shop and utilize pre-established 'uses-and-limits' to authorize or reject a credit card transaction. Having a tranclass timeout would be a nice help because it will(in a task slowdown period) discard tasks waiting in a tranclass queue for a time longer than the tranclass timeout value (set to 9 or 10 seconds). This helps because cpu cycles are not wasted processing tasks that have already been 'stood-in-for' by Visa or Mastercard. The cics region can more quickly 'catchup' to very recently requested credit card authorizations without wasting time and cpu cycles on transactions that have already been 'stood-in-for' by Visa or Mastercard.
