DFHDH0300 & DFHPA1909 could be more user friendly.

The combination of function and documentation cause confusion for the operator when messages
DFHDH0300 File ... could not be opened (ENOENT).
Response X'00000081', Reason X'0594003D'
and
DFHPA1909 DATA /usr/lpp/cicsts/cicsts42
IS INVALID FOR KEYWORD USSHOME=.
RESPECIFY KEYWORD AND DATA.
are issued to the console.
The z/OS operator is used to responding with CANCEL, CAN or C to a WTOR that they want to cancel. But, only '.END' is allowed.
Two changes could be made:
1) Change the DFHPA1909 message to say:
...RESPECIFY KEYWORD AND DATA
or bypass by typing '.END'
This last phrase is directly from the Messages & Codes manual for that message and lets the operator know not to enter CANCEL

2) The customer would prefer that this change be made: Allow CANCEL, CAN or C to be the response. Then there would be no need to change the message, or it could say:
or bypass by typing '.END' or 'CANCEL'.

For recording keeping, the previous attributes were:

Improving the DFHPA1909 message is something we would like to address. The RFE is being moved into 'Planned for Future release' status.  Please note:

    Update received from Wayne:

If a response of CANCEL is problematic, then option 1 for the DFHPA1909 message would be ok.

Supporting a response of '.END' or 'CANCEL' would seem a worthwhile enhancement, but the semantics of a '.END' response versus a 'CANCEL' response are very different and really do not mean the same thing. A '.END' enables the parameter to be bypassed whereas a 'CANCEL'  would normally mean terminating the CICS region immediately! So, is that what is really required here?

If so, we would need to verify the other uses of this particular message in Parameter Manager to ensure we have consistency of processing, or we may need an entirely  new message/response process as this is used by a number of different parameter types where having both may not be appropriate. Alternatively, for this particular parameter error, we could use a different PA message which terminates the region without asking for an alternative. So, a key question would be is that the preferred processing for this error?
