CICS task storage High Water Mark (HWM)

CICS maintains a storage HWM. If a particular txn is processing a mixed workload (e.g. small and large messages within the same MQ Q), we have observed the effect a large message has on the amount of storage acquired by CICS on behalf of each subsequent task for a given txn id. We have trawled the documentation looking for a means by which we can force CICS to reset the HWM (typically to reduce it) and/or for CICS to observe and learn that recent tasks have only utilised 128KB of the 3MB it acquires for each task. It should react to these benign circumstances by reducing the HWM by a factor supplied through config.

Whilst this requirement is valid, based on our current plans and priorities, it is not likely that this could be implemented in the next 12 months, or in the next CICS TS release. Correspondingly this requirement is being declined at this point. The requirement will be kept in the RFE system and might be reassessed in the future. You also have an opportunity to resubmit in twelve months time if you wish it to be reconsidered then.

Due to processing by IBM, this request was reassigned to have the following updated attributes:
Brand - Servers and Systems Software
    Product family - Transaction Processing
    Product - CICS Transaction Server

For recording keeping, the previous attributes were:
    Brand - WebSphere
    Product family - Transaction Processing
    Product - CICS Transaction Server

Thanks for the clarification Mark. Improving RUWAPOOL processing and HWM is a candidate for inclusion in a future release.

Please can you give us some more information on this. What storage HWM are you referring to ? Are you looking at the monitoring data ? Is this a long running task ? What is your setting for AUTODST ? Are these tasks that are using the MQI direct, or driven by DPL bridge?
