This portal is to open public enhancement requests against IBM Z Software products. To view all of your ideas submitted to IBM, create and manage groups of Ideas, or create an idea explicitly set to be either visible by all (public) or visible only to you and IBM (private), use the IBM Unified Ideas Portal (https://ideas.ibm.com).
We invite you to shape the future of IBM, including product roadmaps, by submitting ideas that matter to you the most. Here's how it works:
Start by searching and reviewing ideas and requests to enhance a product or service. Take a look at ideas others have posted, and add a comment, vote, or subscribe to updates on them if they matter to you. If you can't find what you are looking for,
Post an idea.
Get feedback from the IBM team and other customers to refine your idea.
Follow the idea through the IBM Ideas process.

Due to processing by IBM, this request was reassigned to have the following updated attributes:
Brand - Servers and Systems Software
Product family - Transaction Processing
Product - CICS Transaction Server
For recording keeping, the previous attributes were:
Brand - WebSphere
Product family - Transaction Processing
Product - CICS Transaction Server
Automatic alter for the Shared |TS server is supported, but it can actually be harmful, and we therefore do not promote its use very strongly.
For example if automatic alter for size is enabled, this has the nasty side-effect of allowing the coupling facility to make the structure SMALLER if it needs more space for other structures and the current structure is not being fully used. This has in the past allowed another structure to steal space from a pool at off-peak times, causing it to run out of space later. There are ways to get round this, for example by manually increasing the minimum size and refreshing the policy if an automatic increase in size has occurred, to prevent it being reversed later by the system during a quiet period, but they are not very convenient.
Instead, we would recommend monitoring the server warning messages (which can be set to be issued at a different threshold if required) and taking operator action to adjust the size if necessary. This could presumably be implemented using automated operations procedures if the customer wishes to handle size increases automatically, with the advantage that the size is then completely under installation control.
We have a problem too if we have to increase the maxqueue parameter: we need to pass the following command: SETXCF FORCE,STRUCTURE,STRNAME(DFHXQLS_xxxx) when the cics are down
This is a candidate for a future release
