CICSPlex SM WUI. A message warning that the last resource of a group was deleted and a option to delete or not the group too.

When the last resource or component of some grouping is deleted, there is no message to inform this fact, e.g.: resource definitions in a resgroup, CICS system definitions in a CICS system group, etc. Customer has requested a message to inform this situation (like "CEDA" does via RDO) and an option to be able to delete or not the group too.

Due to processing by IBM, this request was reassigned to have the following updated attributes:
Brand - Servers and Systems Software
    Product family - Transaction Processing
    Product - CICS Transaction Server

For recording keeping, the previous attributes were:
    Brand - WebSphere
    Product family - Transaction Processing
    Product - CICS Transaction Server

In the CICS TS 5.1 announcement letter we announced that the CPSM WUI is being functionally stabilised, so this requirement is being rejected in that we have no plans to provide this functionality in CICS. However, the functionality will be available in the soon to be available CICS CM 5.1 which allows an option to be set to delete empty groups.

This is a candidate for inclusion in a future release, but is not committed to any release plan at this time. If implemented the function would be made available via Explorer rather than enhancements to the WUI.

As the WUI is now stabilized, we will not be making new functional enhancements to it. However, we can consider making future enhancements to the Systems Group Definitions view in the Explorer.

As resources are deleted from a CICS System Group and the group becomes empty, we can:

    1) Issue a message to indicate that the group is now empty.
    2) Ask the user if the empty group should also be deleted.
    3) Add an option (maybe a check box which can be set when the group is defined) to automatically delete the group when the last resource defined to it is deleted.
    4) Add ICONs against a list of group definitions so that the ICON can be decorated to indicate whether the group has resources defined to it, or whether it is empty.

This is a candidate for inclusion in a future release, but is not committed to any release plan at this time. If implemented the function would be made available via Explorer rather than enhancements to the WUI.
