IBM Z Software

This portal is to open public enhancement requests against IBM Z Software products. To view all of your ideas submitted to IBM, create and manage groups of Ideas, or create an idea explicitly set to be either visible by all (public) or visible only to you and IBM (private), use the IBM Unified Ideas Portal (https://ideas.ibm.com).

Shape the future of IBM!

We invite you to shape the future of IBM, including product roadmaps, by submitting ideas that matter to you the most. Here's how it works:

Search existing ideas

Start by searching and reviewing ideas and requests to enhance a product or service. Take a look at ideas others have posted, and add a comment, vote, or subscribe to updates on them if they matter to you. If you can't find what you are looking for,

Post your ideas
  1. Post an idea.

  2. Get feedback from the IBM team and other customers to refine your idea.

  3. Follow the idea through the IBM Ideas process.

DTR & DPL processes working together

Based on how our shop is set-up Dynamic transaction routing &
Dynamic Programming Linking do not work together as desired. We have 1 to 4
TORs that link to 1-9 AORs for green screen applications, we have an in-house
version of DFHDYP that controls the dynamic routing of transactions. This is
controlled by coding our program on DTRPROGRAM and coding transaction as Dynamic
YES. This process works without issue for terminal and non-terminal started
transactions. We our now in the process of turning on DPL in the AORs to
route to multiple UORS that have vendor related products for high availability.
We are able to use the same in-house version of DFHDYP by specifying it on DTRPROGRAM
and defining the programs as Dynamic YES to successfully route these program links
between the UORs. The problem we ran across is we have one group that all our application
transactions (3000+) are in that is installed in both the TORs and AORs so this causes
the transactions to try to subsequently route in the AOR to the UOR since DTRPROGRAM is
specified and transactions have Dynamic Yes. I know this is documented in the z/OS CICS
Intercommunication Guide under topic 1.7.2.2.1, that possible daisy-chaining could occur
in this situation. As suggested by the answer to ETR 29368,442,000, it would not be
feasible for us to have multiple duplicate groups for transactions 1 with Dynamic Yes
and 1 with dynamic No. It would be preferred if the 2 could co-exist and recognize
that the terminal started transaction should not daisy-chain.

Due to processing by IBM, this request was reassigned to have the following updated attributes:
Brand - Servers and Systems Software
    Product family - Transaction Processing
    Product - CICS Transaction Server

For recording keeping, the previous attributes were:
    Brand - WebSphere
    Product family - Transaction Processing
    Product - CICS Transaction Server

This requirement has been re-evaluated. Looking at current plans, it is not likely that this would be implemented in the next two CICS TS releases, so correspondingly this requirement is being rejected.
