There is already available a method that can be used to customise which statistics records are recorded to SMF and that is by using the statistics domain global user exit, XSTOUT. This global user exit can be used to suppress the statistics record(s) from being output to SMF by using the exit return code equate uercbyp. This global user exit is passed a number of parameters which could be used to determine whether the record(s) should be suppressed or not. For example, one could look at the UEPSTYPE parameter (which is the address of the statistics record type) and decide that Unsolicited (USS) records should be suppressed or you could look at the UEPSTATS parameter (which is the address of a buffer that contains one or more statistics records) and using the statistics record header mapping copy member DFHSTIDS decide to suppress particular statistics records such as terminal statistics.
