cics logger definitions

when cics v3 first came out there was a program dfhlscu
which would read the old cics log files and generate the logger
definitions for the dfhlog and dfhhunt datasets to use xcf logger, which at
that time was dasd only, it also gave recommendations for the
akpfreq setting in cics as well

this program has since disappeared from cics

since the cics-pa product can already examine and report on the cics smf records themselves and can also produce reports on the xcf logger smf records, why not have it do the examination of all the smf data and suggest logger file definitions and akpfreq values to handle the very busiest times it finds in each individual cics region.

it would seem that the information necessary is readily available to cics-pa and the logic to process it should still be available from the old dfhlscu program. so why not add this as a new feature and save the customers time for having to periodically review this data for possibly dozens or hundreds of different cics regions.

    Due to processing by IBM, this request was reassigned to have the following updated attributes:

    For recording keeping, the previous attributes were:

    This requirement has been evaluated. Looking at current plans, it is not likely that this would be implemented in the next two CICS TS releases, so correspondingly this requirement is being rejected. You have an opportunity to resubmit in twelve months time if you wish it to be considered then.
