IBM Z Software

This portal is to open public enhancement requests against IBM Z Software products. To view all of your ideas submitted to IBM, create and manage groups of Ideas, or create an idea explicitly set to be either visible by all (public) or visible only to you and IBM (private), use the IBM Unified Ideas Portal (https://ideas.ibm.com).

Shape the future of IBM!

We invite you to shape the future of IBM, including product roadmaps, by submitting ideas that matter to you the most. Here's how it works:

Search existing ideas

Start by searching and reviewing ideas and requests to enhance a product or service. Take a look at ideas others have posted, and add a comment, vote, or subscribe to updates on them if they matter to you. If you can't find what you are looking for,

Post your ideas
  1. Post an idea.

  2. Get feedback from the IBM team and other customers to refine your idea.

  3. Follow the idea through the IBM Ideas process.

CPSM Workload algorithm enhancement

Customers need IBM to develop an enhancement to the present CPSM Algorithm in order to save MLC (monthly license charge).

The current CPSM solution provides workload balancing which dynamically routes transactions among a set of target regions (AORs) observing information about the health of the AORs that CPSM maintains. For this route decision CICSPlex SM considers several criteria such as current and past SOS situations, AOR most likely to meet response time goal, AOR least likely to cause the transaction to abend, AOR with the shortest queue of transactions, etc. Thus CICSPlex SM tries to automatically avoid, by routing transactions away from, unreliable AORs.

The objective of this RFE is to include, into the already existing CPSM criteria for dynamic routing decision, the MSU idle capacity of the CECs where the CICS target regions reside in. This extra criterion should work combined with all existing ones, and must watch the 4-hour rolling window of CEC MSU usage threshold limit set arbitrarily by installation. When the current MSU consumption of a given CEC is running past the set threshold level, it must refuse incoming workloads to be sent to any AOR in the scope of LPARs within the subject CEC in order to exclude them from AORs selection list of routing decision even though they are healthy from CPSM perspective. When it decreases below the set threshold level, those AORs will be put back to that AORs selection list.

Due to processing by IBM, this request was reassigned to have the following updated attributes:
Brand - Servers and Systems Software
    Product family - Transaction Processing
    Product - CICS Transaction Server

For recording keeping, the previous attributes were:
    Brand - WebSphere
    Product family - Transaction Processing
    Product - CICS Transaction Server

This requirement has been evaluated. Looking at current plans, it is not likely that this would be implemented in the next two CICS TS releases, so correspondingly this requirement is being rejected. You have an opportunity to resubmit in twelve months time if you wish it to be considered then.
