Lift restriction impose by the number of non system LX

Currently the maximum number of linkage index (LX) allowed for CICS is 2048.

In our shop we have over 700+ CICS regions running in the same LPAR. Each CICS consumes 2-4 LX. This leaves no room for other batch job which has the need to use LX and cause S053 abend. And this further restrict the expansion of number of CICS running in an LPAR

This 2048 limit should be abolished and move up to above 2048. As far as we understand, DB2/MQ are using LX above 2048

CICS Development: CPSM is able to use a system LX. We don't believe that there is any use of 12-bit LX remaining in CICS.

The use of 12-bit LXs by CICS has been reduced in CICS TS 6.2 which has been announced and will GA June 14th 2024. MRO, XRF and Shared Data Tables can use 16-bit LXs.

CICS Development: This is something we would like to address. The Idea is being moved into 'Planned for Future release' status.

This requirement has been re-assessed. It is not likely that this will be implemented in the next 12-24 months and so it is being declined at this point. The requirement will be kept in the RFE system and might be reassessed in the future. You also have an opportunity to resubmit in twelve months time if you wish it to be reconsidered then.

I'm referring to the Linkage Index (LX) in the NSYSLX= parameter in MVS.

If you can take a look of the PMR 60954,000,738, this is the conversation we have with IBM on the issue regarding CICS occupying signficant number of LX and causing issue to other batch job

Are you referring to the current limit of 2047 members in an XCF group, or something else ?
