This portal is to open public enhancement requests against IBM Z Software products. To view all of your ideas submitted to IBM, create and manage groups of Ideas, or create an idea explicitly set to be either visible by all (public) or visible only to you and IBM (private), use the IBM Unified Ideas Portal (https://ideas.ibm.com).
We invite you to shape the future of IBM, including product roadmaps, by submitting ideas that matter to you the most. Here's how it works:
Start by searching and reviewing ideas and requests to enhance a product or service. Take a look at ideas others have posted, and add a comment, vote, or subscribe to updates on them if they matter to you. If you can't find what you are looking for,
Post an idea.
Get feedback from the IBM team and other customers to refine your idea.
Follow the idea through the IBM Ideas process.

We have no plans to backport threadsafe CFDT access to releases earlier than CICS TS V5.5.and so this requirement is being declined at this point. There is no price differential between CICS TS 5.4 and CICS TS 5.5 and indeed IBM encourages customers to operate mixed release CICSplexes as a way of taking up new function earlier. So for example CICS AOR regions upgraded to CICS TS 5.5 to take advantage of threadsafe CFDT, will operate perfectly happily with other earlier CICS releases in the plex.
We have no plans to backport threadsafe CFDT access to releases earlier than CICS TS V5.5. The change involved quite a few changes to control blocks. Making such changes via apar would have an unacceptably detrimental affect on our ISV community and their products which would then have to cope with operating in two modes dependent upon whether the customer had the CFDT apar applied.

The title also mention shared TS, but the description only mentions CFDT. I assume only CFDT should be in the title because access to shared temporary storage is already threadsafe in all CICS TS Version 5 releases.
