Some special transactions can be as free from MXT control as CICS system transactions

Some special transactions can be as free from MXT control as CICS system transactions and can be scheduled to run as soon as possible.

We have assessed this requirement. We have no current plans for this to be implemented and so this requirement is being declined at this point.

Another suggested solution is to use Transaction classes.

So you define all your workload to use a tranclass, whose limit is set to say MXT-5 for example. Or you can use multiple tranclasses for the workload as long as their total limit adds up to MXT-5 for example.

The EXCI job links to the program specifying a transid. You put this transid in a different tranclass from the workload. This technique also allows for example to put CEMT in the tranclass together with the EXCI transid.

It means that the workload will not hit MXT but will hit the tranclass limit of MXT-5 and you still have 5 tasks slots available which will allow the EXCI job to run. It also means that CEMT can be used by the system programmer without failing because the system is at MXT.

A suggestion would be not to try an initiate the specila transaction at the time you want the application to be available, but rather to run it as a long running transaction. Attach it at start up and have it wait, and post it when you want the application to be made available. That way, it is already running and so will not be affected by MXT.

I believe part of the issue being addressed here is that the MXT queue is strictly FIFO, and does not take transaction priorities into consideration. Perhaps a SIT parm could be added to provide the option of priority-queuing MXT_HELD transactions? If selected, the highest-priority transactions would be attached first, as active task slots are freed up (or the MXT setting is increased).

No, CICS system transactions as the name suggests are reserved for use by the CICS system itself, not for user transactions.

has the customer considered using transaction Priority? See https://www.ibm.com/support/knowledgecenter/SSGMCP_5.4.0/tuning/dfht34w.html
