Set a pacing value for ENF SIGNAL TYPE 71 notifications within a single LPAR

Our LPAR was kicked out of the SYSPLEX because the increase for additional SQA had exhausted the available CSA when numerous security updates were signaled. All of our CICS regions (approximately 180), executing under CICS TS 5.3, had the RACFSYNC=YES SIT parameter turned on. This setting creates a listener task in every CICS region for the ENF Type 71 signals. When approximately 400 security updates were performed this created 72,000 (400 requests times 180 CICS regions) SRB's. These SRB's consumed all the available SQA and CSA storage that was availble in the LPAR. The end result is that the LPAR shutdown.

    CICSPlex SM can now process type 71 ENF events for a CICSplex. This enhancement can help to reduce a significant amount of system overload that would otherwise occur for processing large numbers of type 71 ENF events. Support is provided in CICS TS 6.2 which has been announced and will GA June 14th 2024.

    CICS Development: This Idea has been reopened. This is something we would like to address. The Idea is being moved into 'Planned for Future release' status.

    This requirement has been re-assessed. It is not likely that this will be implemented in the near future and so it is being declined at this point. The requirement will be kept in the RFE system and might be reassessed in the future. You also have an opportunity to resubmit in twelve months time if you wish it to be reconsidered then.
