Ability to turn on Internal Trace when Region Hung

Ability to turn on CICS internal trace when there is a tight looping transaction, that eventually gets abended with AKEC. This would give more information that exception trace entry *EXC*.

This would be like CEKL, that would allow trace turned on from Console, while system hung, unable to logon to turn trace on normally; running on a dedicated CICS internal TCB that enables commands to be processed even when the rest of CICS is unresponsive.

    We have assessed this requirement. We have no current plans for this to be implemented and so this requirement is being declined at this point. The requirement will be kept in the RFE system and might be reassessed in the future. You also have an opportunity to resubmit in twelve months time if you wish it to be reconsidered then.

    This would be a valuable enhancement; our shop (and many others, probably) will not normally have tracing active in production CICS regions due to overhead. It would really be useful to get trace activated during a hang/loop situation that may not easily repeat itself, so that trace data can be captured in a dump taken prior to cancelling the region.
