We have assessed this requirement. We have no plans for this capability to be backported to CICS TS 5.5 as there are changes to the way that security is configured that would make it prohibitive to put out as a CD apar.
Yes, it is for the deployment API, which should be available for CICS/TS 5.5 also to improve automatic deployment
The CICS bundle Maven plugin is capable of building bundles for all supported CICS releases.
However, the additional ability to deploy bundles to CICS from the CICS bundle Maven plugin relies on the CICS bundle deployment API, available from CICS TS 5.6.
Can I check whether your requirement is for this additional deployment capability, rather than just the ability to build bundles?
Java developers in our company are used to ci/cd pipelines to deploy their code. In order to provide the same possibilities for Java-Apps within CICS-Liberty in CICS 5.5 thru enablement of the use of maven or gradle plugins, it would be easier to convince developers to make use of Java in CICS.
