RFE to create TIMEOUT parameter in CICS for calls out to z/OS Connect

Provide a ‘TIMEOUT’ parameter within CICS for calls from CICS out to z/OS Connect. The CICS regions in our environment that call out to z/OS Connect are high volume, multi-application regions that are used to sub-second response times. Calls out to Cloud Applications via z/OS Connect can traverse multiple platforms, networks, firewalls, etc. and are subject to delays in any of these areas. Long waits on a response from cloud applications have caused major backups in the AORs and TORs negatively impacting other applications as well. There is a timeout parameter within the z/OS Connect servers, but this is not under the control of the CICS system administrators who need to the ability to take action to protect the environment. A similar (model) concept is the “Respwait” attribute in the PIPELINE definition for Web Service calls. The new parameter would ideally only impact transactions waiting on a response from z/OS Connect and it would be dynamic to be able to quickly update to react to changing conditions. One possible placement for this attribute could be on the URIMAP definition, but if there is a more conducive place to put it, that is welcomed.

Whilst this requirement is valid, based on our current plans and priorities, it is not likely that this could be implemented in the next 12-24 months Correspondingly this requirement is being declined at this point
