Support External JWTs in CICS

Hello,

in our company JWT is a standard for authentication. But unfortunately the JWTs come not from RACF instead they are from a vendor tool called ForgeRock.

To use this standard authentication method we need JWT support in CICS for JWT which are not from RACF and coming from a vendor tool. Currently only JWTs from RACF are supported.

Our idea or our wish would be that this will also be supported via the EXEC CICS VERIFY TOKEN command. So it would be very easy for application developers to use JWTs directly in CICS.

Perhaps an additional functionality in RACF is needed to support this in CICS.

    This idea is being rejected. CICS requires support to be available within RACF before it can be offered within CICS, and the associated RACF idea has been rejected.

    This is the response from RACF:

    This item is unlikely to be placed into the RACF product plan as support for validation of external JWTs on z/OS can be achieved using either IBM Z Multi-Factor Authentication or z/OS Connect.

    CICS Development: This is something we would like to support. It requires support for external JWTs to be added to RACF. Once that is available CICS can take advantage of it.
