RTimout parameter in DFHCICST & DFHCICSA profile in DFHSTAND CSD Group

Hello,

In today's transaction environment, most of the Z trasactions go outside of Z box for some service. These socket calls can wait indefinitely.

DFHCICST and DFHCICSA profiles are used for user transactions.  To be able to give a timeout value for transactions that can wait indefinitely in case socket call doesn't get a response from, Rtimeout  parameter  helps.

Would you please  consider giving a value to Rtimout  for DFHCICST & DFHCICSA profile in DFHSTAND CSD Group in the next releases of CICS

Instead of Rtimeout value default NO, it would be very helpful if it has a value. like 30 seconds.  This will avoid transactions hanging up while waiting for socket calls outside Z.

This idea is being rejected. There are no plans to change the default profiles. However.the existing definitions can be altered dynamically using the resource overrides capability. This avoids the need to update all of the individual transaction definitions.

    1. Copy the supplied DFHCICST profile eg. to one named MYPROFILE
    2. Alter MYPROFILE have have attribute RTIMOUT(30)
    3. Setup a resource definition overrides file - see https://www.ibm.com/docs/en/cics-ts/6.x?topic=resources-overriding-resource-definitions
    4. Add entry to resource definition overrides file to change the transaction resource definitions PROFILE() attribute from the default DFHCICST to a custom profile, eg:

    schemaVersion: resourceOverrides/major.minor
    resourceOverrides:
    - transaction:
    # For transactions starting with TR override the profile attribute to MYPROFILE
    - selector:
    name: TR*
    # Override the profile attribute
    - overrides:
    profile: MYPROFILE

    5. Restart CICS region with Initial or cold start (overrides do not take affect in warm start) - https://www.ibm.com/docs/en/cics-ts/6.x?topic=definitions-applying-resource-definition-overrides
