Add the Concurrency attribute to the Library RDO resource.

Add the Concurrency attribute to the Library RDO resource. It would have the same meaning and values as Concurrency on the Program definition, except it would apply to all programs loaded from the library. It could also be left blank (which would be the default), so that concurrency specified on the program definition or in CICSVAR would apply instead.

When specified, it would function as CICSVAR does, overriding the current value in the program definition. It would also override the CICSVAR setting in the load module, if present.

This would facilitate the use of program autoinstall for threadsafe programs, reducing or eliminating the need for RDO definitions of threadsafe programs.

It would also reduce or eliminate the need for CICSVAR usage. Linking CEEUOPT into a COBOL load module adds almost 3k to its size, so this could provide virtual storage constraint relief. It would lessen the burden on the application programmer to know when to appropriately use CICSVAR, preventing potential misuse. Also, existing programs deemed to be threadsafe could simply be moved to a loadlib in the threadsafe library without further modifications.

Whilst this requirement is valid, based on our current plans and priorities, it is not likely that this could be implemented in the next 12 months, or in the next CICS TS release. Correspondingly this requirement is being declined at this point. The requirement will be kept in the RFE system and might be reassessed in the future. You also have an opportunity to resubmit in twelve months time if you wish it to be reconsidered then.

Due to processing by IBM, this request was reassigned to have the following updated attributes:
Brand - Servers and Systems Software
    Product family - Transaction Processing
    Product - CICS Transaction Server

For recording keeping, the previous attributes were:
    Brand - WebSphere
    Product family - Transaction Processing
    Product - CICS Transaction Server

This is a candidate for a future release.
