Ability for CICS Explorer Administrators to disable default Menu Options and Perspectives.

Specifically we would like our CICS Explorer Administrator to be able to modify the default .exe file such that the “FILE” Menu “Switch Workspace” option was disabled. This is critical for CICS Explorer Deployments where the .exe file is shared and installation requirements dictate the location of user specific workspaces.

Additionally we would like the ability for CICS Explorer Administrators to disable Default Perspectives (Example: z/OS Perspective and Resource Perspective). Currently there is no way for us to stop an untrained CICS Explorer user from opening/using these perspectives. This adds confusion for our users, and results in time spent on CICS Explorer user support calls.

Ideally we would like the Administrator to have a screen with checkboxes (Under “Window” “Preferences”?) that would allow us to uncheck the Menu options and perspectives that we want to disable. This flexibility would allow us to recheck them when we are ready to roll them out. We would also be able (for example) to have the Resource perspective checked/enabled for user groups where it's appropriate, thereby further tailoring the .exe file to meet the user demographic needs.

    We have assessed this requirement. We have no current plans to provide a way to customize Eclipse function within Explorer, so this requirement is being declined at this point. The requirement will be kept in the RFE system and might be reassessed in the future. You also have an opportunity to resubmit in twelve months time if you wish it to be reconsidered then.
