Support for Corba/IIOP in CICS TS 5.2 and further

Corba/IIOP support is discontinued after CICS TS 4.2

It would be of great benefit to some of our customers if support for CORBA/IIOP be made available in CICS TS 5.2 and CICS TS 5.3, either directly in CICS or as a feature under the Liberty JVM Server in CICS.

Othervise the java applications must be migrated to new functionality, which would need a great deal of effort for customer's and great cost.

This might even result in, that customer would migrate to other platforms and technology.

Note that CICS TS V5.3 introduced standard-mode Liberty than includes support for Enterprise JavaBeans - http://www.ibm.com/support/knowledgecenter/SS7K4U_liberty/com.ibm.websphere.wlp.zseries.doc/ae/rwlp_feature_ejb-3.2.html - and the ejbRemote-3.2 feature uses RMI/IIOP. CICS also supports alternative solutions to IIOP including SOAP and RESTful web services CICS.

This requirement has been re-evaluated. Looking at current plans, it is not likely that this would be implemented in the next two CICS TS releases, so correspondingly this requirement is being rejected. You have an opportunity to resubmit in twelve months time if you wish it to be considered then.

EJB IIOP support is on our roadmap. The CICS TS 5.3 announcement letter contained the following statement of direction http://www-01.ibm.com/common/ssi/cgi-bin/ssialias?infotype=an&subtype=ca&supplier=897&letternum=ENUS215-363#sodx
