EXEC CICS START ATTACH more general

An EXEC CICS START ATTACH command can only be executed as a non-terminal-request. There is a need for a terminal oriented (single threaded) START command that is executed immediately. A START command with TERMINAL is only executed every 256 milliseconds in CICS, which means, that you can only START four transactions per second at a given terminal, which is absolutely not enough with modern business needs and modern computer speed. An alternative but less attractive solution could be a possibility to adjust the hard coded 256 millisecond time interval by a parameter to DFHSIT if this could be implemented in a CPU-cost efficient way.

This requirement has been re-assessed. It is not likely that this will be implemented in the next 12-24 months and so it is being declined at this point. The requirement will be kept in the RFE system and might be reassessed in the future. You also have an opportunity to resubmit in twelve months time if you wish it to be reconsidered then.

Due to processing by IBM, this request was reassigned to have the following updated attributes:
Brand - Servers and Systems Software
    Product family - Transaction Processing
    Product - CICS Transaction Server

For recording keeping, the previous attributes were:
    Brand - WebSphere
    Product family - Transaction Processing
    Product - CICS Transaction Server

    Hi CICS Development.

Yes, there is one pseudo terminal per bank and
yes, all transactions are running locally.

Hello Ole, a couple more questions. So is there one pseudo terminal per bank ? Secondly, do the transactions all run locally? ( i.e. that there is no transaction routing options used)

    Hi IBM_Development.

I have been asked why not using a TRANCLASS to serialize instead of a pseudo terminal. The reason is, that there are several groups of single threaded identical tasks (same transaction identifier), because each bank has its own group of tasks that are run in serial and not intermixed with any tasks from any other bank.

    Regards,
    Ole Olsen

If you are using a psuedo Terminal in order to single thread the transaction then have you considered using START ATTACH with no TERMINAL and using a TRANCLASS with a limit of 1 instead? This would provide the single threading you require without suffering from the the 250ms effect.
