This has two certification programs
-IBM Certified System Programmer - CICS Transaction Server V5.2 for z/OS
-IBM Certified Application Developer - CICS Transaction Server V5.2 for z/OS
If this is any where as bad as the people with MS Certs. than I think this is a bad idea, because who would write the cert. test? Hursley ?
Even in the Microsoft cert. world I get resumes for "certified" job seekers,
but when interviewed, you can tell they have no idea of what it takes to run a production network. It got to the point I looked at the Cert. as a "negative" and real world experience as the only real metric.
I disagree with the whole certification process. I've seen too many "certified" people who have been useless.

Great idea and much needed.
This is a good idea. Certifications mean a lot to some management. Problem is it really doesn't mean you can do the actual work. It just means you can read and take tests
This is a definite need for CICS System Programmers
This is a great way to show mastery in CICS, which is great not only for current system programers, but also for new programmers interested in choosing CICS programing, as a career.
Why didn't I think of this?
The certification will put CICS in line with the rest of IBM products.
This is necessary.
