SNI Support for outbound connections in CICS

Some of our clients setup a server for example at Amazon (AWS).
CICS can not connect to the server through HTTPS due to SNI enabled. Unfortunately there are No easy way for CICS sysprog to understand the underlying protocoll used.

SNI support has been made available via apar PH20063 on CICS TS 5.3, 5.4 and 5.5.

With this enhancement, CICS TS, when acting as an HTTP client, can use a TLS connection to a virtual host where the server supports multiple virtual hosts using a single IP address.
No configuration change is required in CICS TS. CICS TS supports SNI if it is supported by the HTTP server.

This is something we would like to address. The RFE is being moved into 'Planned for Future release' status. Please note:

This is becoming a bigger problem now. Internal and external servers are using SNI and CICS will not support it.

One of our customer needs this functionality because the server on which the webservice application is running is configured as 'Name based virtual host' with several certificates. To get the right certificate the client must support TLS SNI otherwise it gets a default certificate and not the one specified in hostname“ („common name check“). It is also a question of security.
