CICS JVMSERVER logs administration

CICS JVMSERVER support generates unix filesystem logs. CICS does not supply anything to administer these logs, which can potentially be big.
The infocenter does not supply much help regarding best practices related to logs handling or the content of the different logs.
A function such as a the maximum size of a log, a maximum number of cycling logs would help to fix the size of the logs space and avoid any side effect related to the size of the logs.

This RFE is satisfied by CICS TS 5.3 which is generally available from December 11th 2015.

In previous releases, it could be difficult to manage zFS log files from JVM server application and system objects. Changes in CICS TS 5.3 make this easier:JVM server output logs, OSGi output, and Liberty logs are consolidated into a single directory structure. This directory structure is unique to each JVM server. Files are prefixed, where appropriate, according to their relative location. Symbolic links make it easier to navigate between logs. If you have a strong preference for using the log output in the separate locations of previous releases, you can set an option in the JVM profile to do that.

Timestamps in JVM server output logs can be localized. The timestamp takes the local time zone that you specify on the TZ variable in your JVM profile. If you don't specify a time zone, the timestamps continue to show UTC (Coordinated Universal Time).

Old log files can be deleted.A new option in the JVM profile, called LOG_FILES_MAX, allows you to specify how many iterations of each log file to keep. If you don't specify this option, or set it to zero, all logs are kept.
