Connect to remote Database

Provide system option to define connection to a remote database service, exposed only as an option for programs within the scope of an Application definition. Implemented using lightweight TCP/IP to a datasource, including IMS and DB2, capturing the program request, including EXEC SQL / DLI, via the standard GLUE mechanism, but isolated only to the programs contained within the scope of the Application container. The system definition should provide capability to connect to a remote database using standard TCP/IP connection mechanisms. This external database connection should be transparent to the program code and not available to any program outside the scope of the Application container. With multiple remote database connection definitions definable in a CICS region but only one visible within the scope of an Application. With no impact to the traditional CICS region connection to a local IMS or DB2 subsystem visible to all programs not controlled by a private remote connection object.

We have assessed this requirement. We have no current plans for this to be implemented and so this requirement is being declined at this point. The requirement will be kept in the RFE system and might be reassessed in the future. You also have an opportunity to resubmit in twelve months time if you wish it to be reconsidered then.
