Custom Feature deployment support

We have developed our own trusted context feature for liberty and now want to use it in every liberty instance in every cics region.

At the moment it is not possible to just install the feature one time. Customizeing the WLP_USER_DIR is not bringing an solution, as this will lead to loosing the cics region context in the folder structure.

I would like to have the possibility to set an alternative user feature directory in the JVM.profile. If the parameter is set cics will load the features installed in the location. If I understand it correctly you are doing it identically with your cicsts features.

It would be also acceptable to have an own prefix like cicsts -> cicsusr:feature-1.0 for this stuff.

Maybe you can use the functionality you already have for the cicsts features to just load another "feature group". This would be a quick win.

This RFE is satisfied by CICS Transaction Server for z/OS V5.6 which is Generally Available today 12th June 2020.

Support for Liberty product extensions in the CICS Liberty environment
A product extension is a group of one or more user-features that provides customization of Liberty. A new JVM profile option LIBERTY_PRODUCT_EXTENSIONS enables the installation of a user product extension into a Liberty server. A product extension is located and maintained separately from the server. This avoids overwrites from server maintenance or updates. Providing a JVM profile option for configuration ensures that the product extension is registered with the Liberty server on start-up, without the need for manual file copying and registration that would otherwise be required for each and every server during creation, set-up, or refresh.
