This portal is to open public enhancement requests against IBM Z Software products. To view all of your ideas submitted to IBM, create and manage groups of Ideas, or create an idea explicitly set to be either visible by all (public) or visible only to you and IBM (private), use the IBM Unified Ideas Portal (https://ideas.ibm.com).
We invite you to shape the future of IBM, including product roadmaps, by submitting ideas that matter to you the most. Here's how it works:
Start by searching and reviewing ideas and requests to enhance a product or service. Take a look at ideas others have posted, and add a comment, vote, or subscribe to updates on them if they matter to you. If you can't find what you are looking for,
Post an idea.
Get feedback from the IBM team and other customers to refine your idea.
Follow the idea through the IBM Ideas process.

Due to processing by IBM, this request was reassigned to have the following updated attributes:

Product family - Transaction Processing
Product - CICS Transaction Server
For recording keeping, the previous attributes were:
Brand - WebSphere
Product family - Transaction Processing
Product - CICS Transaction Server
This requirement has been evaluated. Looking at current plans, it is not likely that this would be implemented in the next two CICS TS releases, so correspondingly this requirement is being rejected. You have an opportunity to resubmit in twelve months time if you wish it to be considered then.
You are right. With the numeric suffix a name will be unique. So from a functional point of view all works fine.
But: In WSDL first approach the developer knows the WSDL very well and he likes to deal in the program with the same names as in the WSDL. Because the names are not the same in WSDL as in copy-book the developer has to know both models what is an additional effort for him.
There is really no reason to truncate a name after about 30 characters if the underlying language supports up to 100.
It would be best if you add an additional input parameter to specify max-length of a name.
We'd like to ask why do you want long names? The Assistants truncate long names, and make them unique (if required) with a numeric suffix. Is it the numeric suffixes that are the underlying concern? If you have several long names that share the same prefix, the numeric suffix doesn't help comprehension. We do have the NAME-TRUNCATION parameter, which could be NAME-TRUNCATION=LEFT. That will cause the more meaningful right hand side of the names to be preserved, and the shared prefix to be truncated. Would this help ?
