SysPlex/CICSPlex compliance FORCE environment mode

Problem: No CICS simple flag/option in SIT and compiler to force SysPlex/CICSPlex compliance? With the general commoditisation of programmers worldwide skills are dropping or being concentrated into small pools. Customer sites are required to put too much time and effort into making their applications SysPlex/CICSPlex compliant and forever regression testing to make sure they stay that way.

Suggestion: CICS to enforce SysPlex compliance with a reduced API if necessary and making the CICS environment itself SysPlex compliant by sharing and pooling all the shared objects that need to be shared transparently to CICS application folk. The simplified CICSPlex compliant programs should see and environment which appears to be a single CICS environment with all shared data objects available across participating CICS regions and all dodgy method banned failing compiles (e.g. EXEC CICS AQUIRE ADDRESS for in storage pgms subsequently allowed to be remapped for use as a private memory DSECT). I expect all pgms would need to be recompiled to be eligible to run in ‘SysPlex configuration' mode with a eyecatcher in their module ... etc please accept specific suggestions as illustrations of possible approaches only. P.S this is a bit like CICS actually taking the SysPlex medicine itself … instead of passing the spoon to the patient in the next bed ;)

Due to processing by IBM, this request was reassigned to have the following updated attributes:
Brand - Servers and Systems Software
    Product family - Transaction Processing
    Product - CICS Transaction Server

For recording keeping, the previous attributes were:
    Brand - WebSphere
    Product family - Transaction Processing
    Product - CICS Transaction Server

This requirement has been evaluated. Looking at current plans, it is not likely that this would be implemented in the next two CICS TS releases, so correspondingly this requirement is being rejected. You have an opportunity to resubmit in twelve months time if you wish it to be considered then.

Hi, ANZ have considered tailoring our site including load module scanner but not in detail as an IBM generic/supplied approach is preferred. A bespoke approach to enforcing CICSPLex/SysPlex compliance would be expected to have common elements across sites but come with an ongoing maintenance overhead for each site also. To avoid the overhead of a bespoke solution is the reason that an 'out-of-the-box' CICSPlex/SysPlex compliant configuration option is desired.

Have you considered using the CICS Load module scanner ? You can supply your own table as input to scan for your own list of commands.

I know we have customers who have added invocations of the LMS to their compile/link jobs to scan the new load module for example to check for any affinity or non-threadsafe command being added to the change.

See topics in IBM KC on using DFHESUP to 'Analyzing the programs by using the CICS load module scanner' https://ibm.biz/BdXMAV and running CAULMS (for non- CICS IA customers) 'Detecting inter-transaction affinities' https://ibm.biz/BdXMA6 . If these jobsteps detect new non-threadsafe or new affinity commands in the loadmod, they can decide what they want or need to do to mitigate the issue.
