Request to amend CICS compiler to detect undesirable (in HA) commands prior to allowing linkediting.

Certain parts of the CICS API are undesirable in a high-availability environment, for example, those creating region affinities, such as ADDRESS CWA and some enqueues. I would like to see the integrated compiler return an unique non-zero code such that a subsequent linkedit step could be suppressed as a way of enforcing such standards.

This requirement has been re-evaluated. Looking at current plans, it is not likely that this would be implemented in the next two CICS TS releases, so correspondingly this requirement is being rejected. You have an opportunity to resubmit in twelve months time if you wish it to be considered then.

Due to processing by IBM, this request was reassigned to have the following updated attributes:
Brand - Servers and Systems Software
    Product family - Transaction Processing
    Product - CICS Transaction Server

For recording keeping, the previous attributes were:
    Brand - WebSphere
    Product family - Transaction Processing
    Product - CICS Transaction Server

This is something that we would like to consider for a future release. In the meantime, you could utiliise the load module scanner that allows you to scan CICS applications for specific commands (which you input in a table). Hence this would require a multi-step job which would look something like:
    1) Integrated translator/compiler
    2) Linkedit into temporary pds
    3) Run load module scanner (DFHEISUP) against temporary pds with a list of restricted commands
    4) If no match found copy temporary pds to output pds
