CICSVR support old CDS till run conversion program

In a SYSPLEX, need to implement all images since cannot control where jobs run due to other software requirements. Therefore, like other products like JES2, the new software is implemented across the plex by IPLing one image at a time using old CDS files. Then when on all image, run a conversion program or issue command to convert the CDS to new version format. This allows the software to be implemented using no new function. If issues, can route jobs to old version or IPL limited image. Require a new CDS to old CDS conversion job for backout if issues.

    This requirement is satisfied by CICS VR 5.2 which is generally available from June 13th 2014.
    Maintenance is also available for CICS VR 5.1 to coexist with a CICS VR 4.2 RCDS.

    This requirement is satisfied by CICS VR 5.2 which was announced 7th April 2014 with a planned general availability date of June 13th 2014. For more information see the IBM CICS Tools for  z/OS, V5.2 announcement letter

    The Development team are investigating the possibility of changing CICS VR 5.1 so that the new information stored in the RCDS for new CICS VR 5.1 functionality can be done in a different way so as to preserve the CICS VR 4.2 RCDS format. This would remove the problem and allow both levels of the product to use the same RCDS format and hence share the RCDS.
