CICS/VR RLS recovery bypass catalog update requirement

Currently, CICS VR will attempt to use VSAM RLS services ( IDARRST ) to set the recovery required bit in the catalog entry if it determines the dataset might be RLS. This requires that the user running the recovery have update access to the dataset AND that the dataset be taken offline during the recovery. However, we would like the ability to bypass this update and just rebuild the dataset from the logstream as one would rebuild it for non-RLS.

    This has not been raised by any other customers; we cannot address it at this time.

    In the usecase its says "We understand why CICS/VR does this, but there may be cases where the dataset needs to remain online while the forward file recovery is running,....". It is not possible to run recovery whilst the dataset is online. This would compromise data integrity.
