Replication logging one VSAM sphere for multiple non-CICS address spaces

When a long-running address space opens a VSAM cluster, performs some updates and then closes the VSAM cluster another non-CICS address space may open the same VSAM cluster. However, if this VSAM cluster is defined for replication logging the logging fails with DWW252I with return code 24 and reason code 717053CB and DWW280I with return code 8 and reason code 71725319.

This appears to be due to the first batch job, that remained running, retaining logging rights until job step end. For long-running address spaces this might be hours or days and they may open and close VSAM data sets over that period. Other batch jobs may need to access the VSAM cluster when it is freed, but before the first job step ends.

CICS VR has been enhanced for datasets defined with LOGREPLICATE FRLOG(NONE) to support disconnecting from the logstream at file close time rather than EOJ.

The functionality is provided by apar PI70498 which is now closed and the PTFs for CICS VR 5.1(UI42778) and CICS VR 5.2(UI42779) are closed and available.
