IBM Enterprise COBOL - Add a report of lines impacted by the REPLACE compiler directive

Hi,

The REPLACE compiler directive allows replacements of COBOL source text, a priori after processing the COPY directives:

  • from the point where it is declared

  • until the end of the source code, or until the REPLACE OFF directive.

However, it is impossible to know which lines (and even more so which texts) were affected by the REPLACE directives.

In the compilation listing, it would be necessary:

  • after each affected line, to have information on the fact that a text replacement was performed,

  • to have an overall report showing at least the line numbers affected by all REPLACE directives, and if possible the old and new texts, or failing that, the line number of the REPLACE directive that affected the line.

Thanks.

Hi Denis, this idea is currently not inline with our compiler roadmap and therefore will be rejected.
