    Such a change would break the JCA contract for JEE applications. The correct solution must be to design EJB method to the right level of granularity, with the right transactional attributes.

    This requirement belongs with the CICS team, for CICS Transaction Gateway and the IMS team for IMS Connect, as they own these two products which would require changes to support this. It should be noted that this is already possible when using WOLA for calling CICS or IMS applications - and that includes when WAS and CICS/IMS are co-located on the same system and when WAS is running on a non-z/OS distributed system and using WOLA's remote mode support for calling CICS or IMS applications.
