This portal is to open public enhancement requests against IBM Z Software products. To view all of your ideas submitted to IBM, create and manage groups of Ideas, or create an idea explicitly set to be either visible by all (public) or visible only to you and IBM (private), use the IBM Unified Ideas Portal (https://ideas.ibm.com).
We invite you to shape the future of IBM, including product roadmaps, by submitting ideas that matter to you the most. Here's how it works:
Start by searching and reviewing ideas and requests to enhance a product or service. Take a look at ideas others have posted, and add a comment, vote, or subscribe to updates on them if they matter to you. If you can't find what you are looking for,
Post an idea.
Get feedback from the IBM team and other customers to refine your idea.
Follow the idea through the IBM Ideas process.

The Configure User Build dialog has the following pages:
General information
File attributes
Log File
Script parameters
Additonal Files to Load
Options 2 and 3 only have to be specified once but we never change them post the initial configuration. Option 1 we sometimes (very rarely) have to change. Normally this also stays the same. The things we do most regularly are Option 4 and Option 5.
The reasons for why we are using those options are:
Option 4 - support will ask developers to add --verbose to get debug output for the build in case of errors; developers will provide custom property files as a parameter
Option 5 - property files have to be selected because they are not transferred automatically (there is an idea for this already) or because we are using macro languages where dependencies cannot be discovered and have to be transferred manually
The idea would be to rearrange these options to see 4 and 5 first and then 3, 1 and 2. From my experience and now working with hundreds of developers this would make a lot more sense.
I understand that for an initial configuration the order it currently has makes a lot of sense because you have to select a sandbox folder first to later select a log directory. However, this can be solved by enforcing the configure dialog on the project (not on a project) and then have it optimized for the user build dialog for programs.

This request for improvement does not concern the core system of DBB but its mode of call in IDZ (plugin). I will forward your proposal to the IDZ team.
