z/OS Debugger and firewall

To open a debug session in IBM Developer for z/OS, IBM Debug try to open the flow from Mainframe to the user PC (port 8001). But in many company that isn't allowed. We need another solution where the PC open the flow to the Mainframe.

The diagram on the documentation page: https://www.ibm.com/support/knowledgecenter/SSQ2R2_15.0.0/com.ibm.debug.cg.doc/cgdita/tcpipports.html is misleading.
Port 8001 displayed there is not part of Debug Manager - rather its is the potential port debug port used when debugging with the TCPIP/DIRECT TEST runtime options. When using the DBMDT/DBM options, port 8001 is not in play.
We will be updating the diagram to clarify the situation.

I disagree, using the Debug Manager will not solve your problem. As you can see https://www.ibm.com/support/knowledgecenter/SSQ2R2_15.0.0/com.ibm.debug.cg.doc/cgdita/tcpipports.html it's always the debugger than call the client PC. And many Mainframe site don't allow than the Mainframe call the user PC. We need than the PC open the flow 8001.

For situations where firewalls are an issue, customers should be using the Debug Manager. See Enabling Communications With Debug Manager https://www.ibm.com/support/knowledgecenter/SSQ2R2_latest/com.ibm.debug.cg.doc/cgdita/dbgmgr.html
