Full Edit Capability for VSAM Files in FM/BASE whilst allocated to another task

The customer is aware of the FM/CICS capabilities!
Customer request:- We require the ability to edit VSAM files defined to CICS (VSAM Share Options(4,4)), when the region is up. To do this, we can specify a DISP option of 'SHR'. This then enables us to edit the file and insert new records.

File Manager returns the message saying: 'The selected VSAM file has a cross system SHAREOPTION of 4. To permit full-function edit, it must be allocated exclusively to File Manager however it is already allocated to another task. You may proceed with limited-function In-place edit or cancel the function and return after the data set has been freed.'

If I then proceed, I am indeed able to edit existing records, but not able to insert new ones or repeat existing ones and then edit. The ability to
edit files in this way is something we do need.
