HATS is dumping the contents of the screen to a log

Currently when HATS encounters a macro exception, the contents of the screen being used are dumped into a log file.
As this can contain sensitive information, we need to be able to stop HATS from doing this in a Production environment.

The feature that is described in this request is a candidate for a future release.

A preliminary evaluation of this request indicates that it is consistent with our business strategy. Further evaluation of this RFE is underway.

    here is some more info
    from old mails

    Hi Grant,

I understand your concern. What you are asking would be a total rewrite of the macro trace code. Can the screen dumps be removed.....not sure. This would be a "Request for Enhancement...RFE". L3 would need to look into it.

I do know the screen dumps help troubleshoot macro issues and in my head they are just as helpful for clients to resolve their macro issues as for IBM troubleshooting a client macro issue.

    Hi Betty

I raised the ticket as I'm concerned about customer data and card details being stored in the filesystem in clear. I'm quite happy to sanitise logs before sending them out to troubleshoot problems, that aspect is not a problem.

Would it be fair to say that IBM cannot stop the screen dumps, some of which contain personal / card data from being stored in the ear log?

It seems ripe for harvest from my point of view, which is worrying.

    Thanks

    Grant

    Hi Grant,

All tracing captures GDPR data. My understanding is we are allowed to receive GDPR but it has to remain in a very secure environment and can never be downloaded to a non secure data repository. Correct me if I am wrong.

If you do not want to send over your clients data then you would have to edit out the personal data first. We can't rewrite all the tracing source code to NOT capture GDPR data.
