Hello IBM!
It appears, that our RFE has been realized with HOD v15.0.2 already.
We have updated one of your staging systems recently, and I've noticed the "Telnet Keep Alive Enhancement" :
https://www.ibm.com/docs/en/host-on-demand/15.0?topic=new-functions-in-host-demand-version-150
With this release, Host On-Demand supports Telnet Keep-Alive. A Keep-Alive packet is sent to the host at regular intervals to check if it is still reachable. Two keep alive mechanisms are supported: NOP, and TIMING-MARK.
Indeed: when I enable the Telnet Keep-Alive (NOP, 60 seconds) then the printer session no longer disconnects behind the scenes, and we don't see hung print jobs after five minutes idle time anymore.
Also, I noticed in a wireshark trace, that the keepalive has a negligeable overhead (only one packet sent and one received).
So it seems that our request is perfectly fulfilled.
Thank you very much! Feel free to close this idea.
Best regards,
Chris
