Re-order the JES output results from a Remote zOS File Search when a PDSE member list is wildcarded.

When using IDz and performing a Remote zOS File Search that uses a wild-carded PDSE member selection (e.g. PPH2*) rather than the entire PDSE, that the output that is presented back to the user in JES output from the job is not in the same order as would be the case when issuing the same search via ISPF (i.e. 3.14).

Both the native ISPF and IDz Remote zOS File Search execute ISRSUPC and are driven from the 'SELECT' cards that are generated.

It appears that the file of SELECT cards that are generated via IDz are built using multiple threads and then reassembled in a random order prior to the execution of ISRSUPC. This leads to the results being listed in JES output in a somewhat random sequence based upon which members were selected for each SELECT card/statement.

The SELECT cards that are generated in native ISPF 3.14 appear to build them in PDSE member name sequence, with six members per card/statement (assuming a member length of 8 characters). This leads to the results being listed in JES output in actual member name sequence.

Thank you for taking the time to suggest an enhancement to our product. Many of our product enhancements result from feedback from our customers, so your input is always very important to us. Your request is currently in line with our product strategy and we added it as a candidate for future releases of the product. Thank you for your suggestion and continued support.
